How to Prepare for Your Eyelash Extension Appointment
To ensure the best possible experience and the longest lasting lash extensions, there are a few things you should know before your eyelash extension appointment. Simply follow these tips below and you’ll walk out of your appointment with gorgeous, long-lasting extensions.
Shower Before Your Lash Extension Appointment
You’ll probably want to shower before your lash extension appointment because after your appointment it’s recommended that you wait 48 hours before subjecting your new lashes to water or steam. This will ensure that the extensions have time to bond and set properly.
Don’t Wear Your Contacts
Be sure to take out your contact lenses before your eyelash extension appointment. Your eyes will be closed for a long time, and you want to ensure your eyes are comfortable and that the fumes from the lash glue don’t get trapped under your contacts and cause discomfort. Be prepared to wear your eyeglasses directly after the service, as contact solution will wet the lashes.
Come With a Clean Face
We recommend arriving to your appointment with a completely clean face- that means no makeup, mascara, or face creams. The oils in makeup and creams can prevent the lash glue from properly adhering to your natural eyelashes. Any makeup or moisturizers worn close to your eyes will need to be removed. If you wear waterproof mascara, be sure to discontinue use three days before your appointment. The compounds in waterproof mascara can stay on eyelashes even after proper cleansing.
Don’t Curl Your Lashes Before
Don’t curl your eyelashes on the day of your appointment. This will help ensure that your natural lashes in are in their most natural and healthy state before the extensions are applied.
Dress Comfortably
Getting your eyelashes done can take 60 to 90 minutes, so make sure you wear comfortable clothes so you can sit back and relax while your lash tech works her magic.
Minimize Allergy Concerns
If you’re prone to pet allergies or seasonal allergies, you may want to consider taking an antihistamine before your lash extension appointment. This may help prevent an allergic reaction to the lash glue, and ensure a more comfortable experience.
Silence Your Cell Phone
It’s best to remove all possible distractions when your lash extensions are being applied because you need to keep your eyes closed. Switch your phone to silent mode so you’re not compelled to open your lids.
