How much will it all cost?
It's completely normal to feel nervous, but we’re here to tell you that there's no need to worry! In this guide, we'll take you through everything you need to know about your first salon visit. We'll cover what to expect during your consultation, what services are available, how long you should expect to be there, and much more. By the end of this guide, you'll be ready to face your first salon experience with confidence and ease!
The Most Important Step: The Consultation
The consultation is one of the most important parts that can make or break your salon experience. Take this opportunity to thoroughly discuss your hair goals and expectations with your stylist. At Flirt Salon, we’ll already have an idea of what you’re looking for based on what you filled out in the New Client Booking Form, so this would be the perfect time to ask any questions or bring up any concerns you have. During the consultation, the stylist will assess your hair type, face shape, skin tone, and even lifestyle to determine the best services to help you achieve your desired look. This could include recommendations for haircuts, colors, highlights, or other styling techniques.
Additionally, it's important to be upfront about any limitations you may have, such as allergies or your hair history (whether you’ve bleached, used box dye, or had perms). We’re here to guide you through the entire process, and ensure that you are 100% happy with the final result. Our goal is to make you feel as comfortable as possible, so please don’t hesitate to ask questions or voice your concerns along the way.
Working Our Magic
Once you and your stylist have agreed on a plan, the hair transformation will begin! This is our favorite step because it allows us to get into our creative modes and simply work our magic. Depending on the services you're receiving, this could involve washing, cutting, coloring, or styling your hair. If this is your first time, our stylist will guide you through each step to explain what they're doing. If you're getting a major change, like a drastic cut or color, your stylist may check in with you periodically to ensure that you're happy with the direction the style is taking.
How Much Time Should You Expect To Be At The Salon?
Be prepared to spend at least a few hours at the salon, especially if you’re getting a major transformation. To properly plan ahead, you can check in with your stylist ahead of time to ask for a time estimate. We recommend bringing something to occupy your time such as your favorite book to read, headphones, or even your laptop to catch up on the latest Netflix shows. At Flirt Salon, we provide refreshments such as coffee, tea, water, and light snacks for all of our clients. However, we recommend having a meal before your appointment time.
Styling Your Hair
One of the best parts about a hair appointment is seeing your #hairgoals become reality. Your stylist will ask you how you prefer to style your hair: straight, curled, or wavy. During this process, your stylist will likely give you some tips on how to maintain your new look at home. Be sure to ask questions and take notes so you can recreate the style on your own. Styling and hair maintenance tips can include anything from how to properly blow-dry your hair to what type of shampoo and conditioner to use. Your stylist may also suggest certain styling tools or accessories that will help you achieve your desired look.
Your stylist may also ask to take a photo of your hair to post on their own social media channels or portfolio. If you are uncomfortable with showing your face or simply prefer to not have your photo taken, please don’t hesitate to let your stylist know.
Paying for Your Salon Services
At the end of your appointment, your stylist will calculate the total cost of your services. It's a good idea to ask for an estimate of the costs prior to your appointment, so you're not caught off guard. This is also a great time to pick up high quality, salon-grade hair products that your stylist may have recommended to you during your appointment. These products are specially formulated to work with the specific services and treatments you received, and can help you maintain your new look at home.
